One thing I really love about Netflix's original content (and being a representative blogger for them) is their tendency to feature strong, independent and (mostly) relatable female characters. We hear so much about how there aren't enough roles for REAL women out there aside from the 2-dimensional characters we see in so many popular films and television. There is also the awesome bonus that shows like Jessica Jones will hire all-female directors for its second season, and Orange is the New Black  Read more [...]

I've been having a rough go lately. I'm sure you can tell from my silence on here (the blog) and most of my social media channels. It's been a tough few months for me, personally (to say the least), and I just haven't been able to find the words to share what I want to share with everyone. That said-- I am really excited to have something I've been looking forward to for a while finally arrive to offer me some respite from the stress: a brand new Netflix original that looks absolutely incredible Read more [...]

First it was Dora... Then came Paw Patrol. NOW there is only Mia and Me. What is Mia and Me? Funny you should ask. Mia and Me is the ONLY show either of my children want to watch these days on Netflix. Why? I honestly could not tell you. One day, my daughter was at a playdate with my niece, and they watched this show together, and that was the end of any and all alternatives to Mia and Me. It's half live-action, half animated, and it's honestly not all bad. I'm sure I would Read more [...]

I'm pretty sure I've watched the trailer for Bad Moms about 100 times since it was released a few months ago. Not only are 2 of my girl crushes in it (hello Kristen and Christina, I'm looking at you!), but it also looks completely relatable and ridiculously hilarious! I have been counting down the days until I get to see this movie, and now the premiere is less than a week away! A woman with a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, overachieving kids, beautiful home, stunning looks Read more [...]
I Heart Lily Tomlin & Netflix Canada

Soooooo... I LOVE Lily Tomlin. Always have, always will. I fell in love with her appearances on Sesame Street way back in the day, and now I am absolutely addicted to her every move on Grace and Frankie. She's fabulous, frank, funny, feministic and absolutely freaking talented! She has won numerous awards (2 Tonys, 2 Peabodys, 6 Emmys, a Grammy, the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards, as well as the Mark Twain Prize for American humor) and has been nominated for COUNTLESS others. That Read more [...]

It's been a while since I've done a book review on the blog, but that's mostly because I haven't read anything that I felt strongly enough about to share (good or bad) in a long time. That doesn't mean that I'm not still the same bookworm I always have been! Some things just don't change. Me Before You from Jojo Moyes is one of those books I've had on my list since it came out. For some reason, I've read several of her other books but not this one as yet. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law LOVED Read more [...]

2015 in Perspective

So... I'm a few weeks late on this post, but I feel it's important for me to keep writing these "year in retrospect" posts. Better late than never, I suppose. 2015 was a year of transformation for me. I honestly feel like a completely different person than the one I was just one year ago, unlike any previous year of my life (yes, even that year I moved across the contient and started undergrad). We started 2015 waiting anxiously to get away from the frigid winter for our big Florida trip. Hubby Read more [...]

The Hardest Part

Yes, things have been very quiet here on the blog for some time... I know. There has been so much action and there have been so many in changes in our lives over the last several months, and yet I have not had the proper mindset to sit down and write about any of them. Here is the biggest change: my maternity leave has ended, and I am now back to work  on a full-time basis. You might think that being the second time around, it would be easier, but you would be sorely mistaken. There are no words Read more [...]
