Any Time is Family Time with Netflix (and a giveaway!)

"My kids will never have screen time." Be honest- before we became parents, we told ourself a lot of things. The reality is that life with kids isn't always easy or perfect. It's not as simple as we once imagined. Still- we'd never trade it for anything. The key is finding what works for our own families. As long as everyone is healthy, happy and (relatively) well-adjusted, then who cares about those hard-and-fast rules we once imagined would be part of our lives?  Screen time is part of Read more [...]

Julie’s Greenroom is a TREASURE

If you haven't yet checked out Julie's Greenroom on Netflix, RUN, don't walk and turn it on NOW. If there ever was a female role model who is strong, poised, talented, intelligent, eloquent and can own the attention of any room she's in (even if she's not actually physically in it), that woman is Julie Andrews! Julie's Greenroom is a show about theatre and creativity and freedom of expression. It seeks to teach kids that the theatre "does not discriminate" and offers something for every person: Read more [...]
I Cheated…

I Cheated…

Here it is... my confession... I cheated. I love my husband dearly, but I just COULD NOT resist... Especially since he started it with his own cheating! #SorryNotSorry It turns out, we're in good company, though. It seems that 46% of global Netflix viewers are cheating RIGHT NOW... with their favourite Netflix shows. It also turns out that we Canadians are not quite as polite as we like to think, with over 1/3 (37% to be exact) of couples streaming behind each other's backs. In fact, cheating Read more [...]

Only Some Resolutions Were Meant to be Broken #StreamTeam

As a habit, I don't make resolutions at the New Year. I don't really believe in resolutions. I figure that if saying you're going to do something got you anywhere, we'd all be rich and famous and successful, and that's just not the case. I'm more of a do-er. I believe that getting 'er done is more about planning and discipline and commitment rather than a wishful hope. That said- I did make a promise of sorts to myself this year... I promised that I would be more open and honest here. That I would Read more [...]

One thing I really love about Netflix's original content (and being a representative blogger for them) is their tendency to feature strong, independent and (mostly) relatable female characters. We hear so much about how there aren't enough roles for REAL women out there aside from the 2-dimensional characters we see in so many popular films and television. There is also the awesome bonus that shows like Jessica Jones will hire all-female directors for its second season, and Orange is the New Black  Read more [...]

First it was Dora... Then came Paw Patrol. NOW there is only Mia and Me. What is Mia and Me? Funny you should ask. Mia and Me is the ONLY show either of my children want to watch these days on Netflix. Why? I honestly could not tell you. One day, my daughter was at a playdate with my niece, and they watched this show together, and that was the end of any and all alternatives to Mia and Me. It's half live-action, half animated, and it's honestly not all bad. I'm sure I would Read more [...]

All You Need is Love – Win 3 Months of Netflix!

Family couch cuddles, car-ride sing-alongs and everything in between. Our best memories as a family of four are being made when we're just together, enjoying and living in the moment. It beats planned excursions, exciting days out and parties. My favourite moments with my husband and little ones are the ones that are most unexpected (and tend to leave us giggling or belly laughing). Music is such an important part of the memories we're making and of the memories I have of my family from when I was Read more [...]

Canadian Invasion on Netflix #StreamTeam

Canada might be long gone, but the Canadian content invasion on Netflix Canada lives on! I always love a good game of "Betcha didn't know they were Canadian"! Don't you?! Here are some of the new discoveries I've made lately about some of our homegrown talent: Joshua Jackson:  How did I not know that Pacey/Peter Bishop was a fellow Canuck?! Just when I didn't think I could love him anymore! Now on Netflix: catch him in One Week. I had never heard of this title before, but after reading Read more [...]
