A Rockin’ Piece of Rock ‘N’ Roll History: Million Dollar Quartet

A Rockin’ Piece of Rock ‘N’ Roll History: Million Dollar Quartet

This past Wednesday night, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the opening night of Million Dollar Quartet  at the Segal Centre for the Performing Arts. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! This Tony Award-Winning musical is inspired by the incredible true events of December 4, 1956, when Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll", brought together 4 music giants (Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley) for one of the greatest impromptu recording sessions of all time. Don’t Poke the MamaBear: Birthday Party Invitation Etiquette

Something grizzled this MamaBear last week. From the outside, it might seem small or insignificant in light of all the BIGGER worries of our world these days. However, for this Mama, this small, petty issue felt BIG. I want to preface this by saying that I never thought I would be this parent. I always thought this was the sort of silly thing I would shrug off and let slide down my back. I suppose that in a way I have done that, but believe me when I say that if not for my daughter not taking Read more [...]

I'm pretty sure I've watched the trailer for Bad Moms about 100 times since it was released a few months ago. Not only are 2 of my girl crushes in it (hello Kristen and Christina, I'm looking at you!), but it also looks completely relatable and ridiculously hilarious! I have been counting down the days until I get to see this movie, and now the premiere is less than a week away! A woman with a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, overachieving kids, beautiful home, stunning looks Read more [...]

It's been a while since I've done a book review on the blog, but that's mostly because I haven't read anything that I felt strongly enough about to share (good or bad) in a long time. That doesn't mean that I'm not still the same bookworm I always have been! Some things just don't change. Me Before You from Jojo Moyes is one of those books I've had on my list since it came out. For some reason, I've read several of her other books but not this one as yet. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law LOVED Read more [...]
Don’t Walk Away From Me…

Don’t Walk Away From Me…

The last week of April was a BIG week in our house. My son, just shy of being 19 months old, finally got up on his two feet and walked. An early crawler, like his sister, he's been on the move since he was 7 months old. Also like his sister, he started pulling up to standing long before his first birthday but decided that walking just wasn't for him. We've been trying to encourage him to stand and walk- using a walker or holding our hands. We did everything we could think of to get him to just Read more [...]

What Mama Is Watching- My Netflix List

Anyone who knows me or follows me on social media knows how important my "me" time has become to me. For about 10 months now, that "me" time has been about making time for my daily workouts and time to take care of me... aka filling my own cup before filling others'. Taking the time in my daily routine to make ME a priority has changed my life... from the inside out. I have more energy, I'm happier, I'm healthier, I'm stronger, and my whole family is benefitting from it. However, I do still appreciate Read more [...]

I have to start this post by saying that Full House DEFINED my childhood. When they announced that the show was ending  in 1995, 10-year-old Jordana actually wrote passionate, heart-wrenching letters to the studio and the producers begging and pleading that they please please please reconsider. Didn't they know how much the show meant to kids like me? How important it was for us to have role models like the Tanner Girls to look to? How else would I learn my way through being a tween- Blossom was Read more [...]

2015 in Perspective

So... I'm a few weeks late on this post, but I feel it's important for me to keep writing these "year in retrospect" posts. Better late than never, I suppose. 2015 was a year of transformation for me. I honestly feel like a completely different person than the one I was just one year ago, unlike any previous year of my life (yes, even that year I moved across the contient and started undergrad). We started 2015 waiting anxiously to get away from the frigid winter for our big Florida trip. Hubby Read more [...]
