Any Time is Family Time with Netflix (and a giveaway!)

"My kids will never have screen time." Be honest- before we became parents, we told ourself a lot of things. The reality is that life with kids isn't always easy or perfect. It's not as simple as we once imagined. Still- we'd never trade it for anything. The key is finding what works for our own families. As long as everyone is healthy, happy and (relatively) well-adjusted, then who cares about those hard-and-fast rules we once imagined would be part of our lives?  Screen time is part of Read more [...]
A Rockin’ Piece of Rock ‘N’ Roll History: Million Dollar Quartet

A Rockin’ Piece of Rock ‘N’ Roll History: Million Dollar Quartet

This past Wednesday night, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the opening night of Million Dollar Quartet  at the Segal Centre for the Performing Arts. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! This Tony Award-Winning musical is inspired by the incredible true events of December 4, 1956, when Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll", brought together 4 music giants (Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley) for one of the greatest impromptu recording sessions of all time. If you haven't yet checked out Julie's Greenroom on Netflix, RUN, don't walk and turn it on NOW. If there ever was a female role model who is strong, poised, talented, intelligent, eloquent and can own the attention of any room she's in (even if she's not actually physically in it), that woman is Julie Andrews! Julie's Greenroom is a show about theatre and creativity and freedom of expression. It seeks to teach kids that the theatre "does not discriminate" and offers something for every person: Read more [...]

I Cheated…

Here it is... my confession... I cheated. I love my husband dearly, but I just COULD NOT resist... Especially since he started it with his own cheating! #SorryNotSorry It turns out, we're in good company, though. It seems that 46% of global Netflix viewers are cheating RIGHT NOW... with their favourite Netflix shows. It also turns out that we Canadians are not quite as polite as we like to think, with over 1/3 (37% to be exact) of couples streaming behind each other's backs. In fact, cheating Read more [...]

Only Some Resolutions Were Meant to be Broken #StreamTeam

As a habit, I don't make resolutions at the New Year. I don't really believe in resolutions. I figure that if saying you're going to do something got you anywhere, we'd all be rich and famous and successful, and that's just not the case. I'm more of a do-er. I believe that getting 'er done is more about planning and discipline and commitment rather than a wishful hope. That said- I did make a promise of sorts to myself this year... I promised that I would be more open and honest here. That I would Read more [...]

Don’t Poke the MamaBear: Birthday Party Invitation Etiquette

Something grizzled this MamaBear last week. From the outside, it might seem small or insignificant in light of all the BIGGER worries of our world these days. However, for this Mama, this small, petty issue felt BIG. I want to preface this by saying that I never thought I would be this parent. I always thought this was the sort of silly thing I would shrug off and let slide down my back. I suppose that in a way I have done that, but believe me when I say that if not for my daughter not taking Read more [...]

I have yet to write a full recap of our incredible adults-only vacation from this holiday season, but before I share that, here is a little introduction to how it began. Picture this: It's Thursday evening, December 22nd. You've finally completed the packing process for a long trip: organizing, planning, washing, folding, sorting, packing for 1 dog to go the sitter, 1 cat to go to a friend, 2 kids to spend a week with their grandparents and 2 adults to be out of the country for a week. The Read more [...]

Happy 2017 lovely readers! I know I've been silent for far too long, but believe me when I say it was with good reason! VERY good reason! Hubby and I just enjoyed our very first vacation together without kids, celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary! We enjoyed a FULL week away- in New Orleans and on a cruise to the Yucatan in Mexico. I was bursting to share with everyone, but I knew I had to wait until our return to do so. As a blogger, I share a lot of my personal life with the world. Read more [...]
