Only Some Resolutions Were Meant to be Broken #StreamTeam

As a habit, I don’t make resolutions at the New Year. I don’t really believe in resolutions. I figure that if saying you’re going to do something got you anywhere, we’d all be rich and famous and successful, and that’s just not the case. I’m more of a do-er. I believe that getting ‘er done is more about planning and discipline and commitment rather than a wishful hope.

That said- I did make a promise of sorts to myself this year… I promised that I would be more open and honest here. That I would write and share more. AND more often. I’ve already failed greatly at that. It’s only February. Lesson learned.

The truth is that I’m really struggling to express how I feel these days. I am so overwhelmed with the state of the world, as I know many people are. It’s been hard to come here and put into words how I feel, but it’s also been difficult to go on as if nothing is happening out there. To discuss matters of levity and joy and pretend like everything is “okay”. I do try to keep this blog happy and light and keep the political, heavy, weighty stuff elsewhere.  So- instead- I have chosen to avoid coming here and putting “pen to paper” at all. I WILL do better!!!

Thank goodness for distractions! I’ve also been trying to enjoy some downtime with my family, including screen time that will take us away into a world that is maybe more familiar than the one we are currently living in.

I’ve now committed to a new type of resolution. One that I think I will be able to keep (and enjoy losing myself in).

For now, I am glad to have a place to lose myself, to disappear to, to live vicariously through. Stay tuned…

I would love to hear from you- what would YOUR list look like?
